Step 8. The Crew Presidency conducts monthly Crew Meeting and oversees activities: In this meeting, they conduct Crew business.
They use Robert’s Rules of Order. They have the Crew evaluate completed activities. Activity chairmen report on plans for coming activities and Crew members vote on approvals of activity plans.
(Chris) Now we are going to let look in on our monthly Crew Meeting. We hold this meeting on the first Wednesday night each month.
I call the meeting to order, ask someone to give an opening prayer, then we do some sort of opening ceremony, such as singing the Venturing Code song and saying the Pledge of Allegience.

Ben will read last month’s minutes. Then we will work on Old Business, such as evaluating last months’ activities.
I ask questions like “Would you want to do this again sometime?” and “Is there anything that we might want to do differently next time?” Ben writes down our evaluation of each activity on the Activity Planning Worksheet and saves the worksheet in a binder, so that we have a good record of each activity.

Next come New Business, with our Program VP leading.
(J.D.) I have the first activity chairman present the plan he has made for his assigned activity. After he finishes, we allow some time for discussion.

Then we vote, using Robert’s Rules of Order. If the motion passes, we go on to the next presentation and do the same thing.
(Chris) After New Business, I will call on one of the Advisors to give an Advisor’s minute. Then I call on someone to close the meeting with prayer.

Some times these meetings are tough, but a little pizza and basketball afterward makes it all worthwhile.
