Step 4. The Crew Presidency conducts a Venturer Interest Survey (VIS): They obtain input on Crew members’ interests and preferences for Crew activities, by conducting a Venturer Interest
Survey (VIS).

(Chris) A big step in starting to create a yearly calendar is to do a VIS. VIS means Venturer Interest Survey. A VIS is a good way to find out what kinds of activities that
Crew members want. VIS is simply a list of ideas for possible Crew activities. Our Program VP took the lead to do a VIS in our Crew.

(J.D.) This VIS we use started with a list printed in the Venturer Leader handbook. We copied it into the computer and add items to it each time we use it.

A couple of weeks before we had our Crew Officer’s Seminar, I printed enough copies of the VIS so that each Crew member could have one.
Then I asked each guy to mark all the activities he would like to do over the next year. Then I counted the number of votes each activity got and wrote the top vote-getters on a big sheet of newsprint. I took this sheet to our Crew Officer’s Seminar, so we could use it when we planned our yearly calendar.
