Step 3. The Crew Committee Chairman organizes the Crew Committee: He identifies/obtains committee members to be consultants, using Fathers as much as possible; the Committee conducts a
Program Capability Inventory (PCI--boys can help).

(Bishop) As Chris told you, I assigned myself to be the Venturing Committee chairman, because I wanted to stay closely involved with my Priests Quorum and their activities.

Just in case I get too busy to follow through on things when I should, I asked Bro. Mascarenas, our YM President, to be my co-chair. Bro. Powell, our YM Secretary, also serves as the Crew
Committee Secretary. The other committee members are parents, except that we also have added Bro. Jones, the Sunday School teacher for Course 17.

One of the things that our committee has done is to conduct a PCI - a Program Capability Inventory. Actually the young men did most of it.
They went to the Elders and High Priests and to Relief Society meetings, to get adult members of our ward to fill out PCI questionnaires. This is one of the Venturing methods, to gather information about resources that might be available to help with programs and activities. Then our committee members helped our young men to compile all of this information into a resource book. Some of these skills and hobbies sounded so interesting that we also added these items to our Crew interest survey list.
