Step 12. The Crew President or other Crew officer participates in the TLC: This person represents the Crew at Stake or District Teen Leader Council (TLC).  They give input.  They report back on Stake, District, Area, and Council programs.

(Chris)  One more thing about Venturing. We’re lucky to have a Stake TLC.  That’s Teen Leader Council. The TLC plans 4 or 5 stake activities for Venturers each year, and does other things like training to make Venturing work in all of the wards of our Stake.  The TLC also is in charge of stake athletics for Priests-age guys, with a tiny little bit of help from consultants from the Stake Activities Committee. This last year we really concentrated on improving sportsmanship in stake basketball games. I don’t want to brag too much, but I think that sportsmanship is better now that we are in charge.
		Each year in the late summer our Stake Young Mens Presidency calls a new TLC chairman and then he selects two Vice Chairman and a Secretary/Treasurer.  All of the ward Crews send a representative. I attend representing my Crew. In a way its like practicing representative government. I give input to the TLC on what our Crew wants, and I take information back to my Crew about Stake, District, Council, and National Venturing programs.
I have noticed that the TLC runs almost like a high-level Crew.  We started the year doing a VIS, then held a TLC officer’s seminar. At the seminar we did some activities that really got us close.  The stake young mens president went over some leadership techniques and helped us learn how the TLC should run.  Then we planned a stake Venturing calendar for the year.
		The TLC has helped me to learn more about how our government works, and how to be a representative for my groups.  We also planned some really cool activities that we couldn’t have done with our quorum alone.  One was a sunrise testimony meeting with all of the Priests and Laurels of our stake on the Saturday of Easter week end.  Another one was an overnighter with the Stake Presidency at a summer home in the mountains where we got to know them better and heard them talk at a campfire about preparing for missions.
