Palmyra District Venturer Committee Proposal

Proposal: Expand the number of adult volunteers to create a District Venturer Committee utilizing Stake YM Presidents and other volunteers in the following roles.  These roles emphasize the methods of Venturing:

Purpose: To provide a representative voice on each standing committee in the Palmyra District and to provide two-deep leadership for specific functions.  Venturer Committee members would represent the views and interests of Venturers throughout district.  Service on the committee would help provide direction and balance to those who have already accepted Young Men/Scouting assignments (specifically Stake Young Men Presidents).

Responsibilities: Each committee member will work somewhat independently on specific responsibilities and as a team during periodic committee meetings (2-3 times/year).  Responsibilities will rotate each 12-18 months (or as changes in Stake YM Presidencies take place) with assistants assuming the primary role.

Support: Stake presidencies help keep the committee fully staffed and viable by explaining the "dual nature" of the Stake YM President's call. Stake YM Presidents already attend the monthly District Executive Committee meeting. Their assignment on the District Venturer Committee helps to clarify their role in Scouting.

Teen Leader Council (TLC): Enhance Venturing at the young man level through organization of a Teen Leader Council (TLC). This Council will provide leadership training, district Venturing activities, and direction to individual Crews by utilizing a model crew format.  Details relative to structure and purpose of the TLC is found on the next page.
