Participants are formed into Venturer crews, such as might be associated with Priests quorums back home, and actually live the Venturing process for four days. The young men actively participate in a balanced program (experience areas) with Priesthood purposes. They participate with a Venturer Officers Association (the equivalent of the young men’s part of a stake youth organization or a BSA district VOA). The democratic process (rules of order for meetings and the development of code and bylaws for each crew) is used. Eleven leadership skills are introduced and made a part of the participant’s leadership style. All individuals are placed in service roles as leaders on the course, where they have opportunities to begin to apply what they have been taught and actually experience the process. Participants experience the program culture of Venturing applied to the Aaronic Priesthood setting, through ceremonies, music, modeling of the Priests-Venturer organization and methods, informal and fun times, etc. Personal examples of gospel commitment and missionary service are also provided through staff and peer associates. Each participant is challenged to feel the Spirit and expand his relationship with the Savior through scripture study and memorization, crew devotionals, and special campfire programs. Each participant is also encouraged to develop a set of personal goals for applying things they have learned at PLC back home, in their quorum/crew callings, and community, and in the own lives. Good food and fun activities round out this program.
